Lilas Light was created in memory of our beautiful daughter, Lila, who tragically passed away on the 28th December 2023 after being misdiagnosed with meningitis. Lila was a kind, caring soul who dreamed of becoming a nurse, we are continuing her legacy- spreading the same compassion and kindness that she showed to everyone around her. Lila’s Light provides bereavement support to families who have lost a child. We understand the devastating impact of such loss, and our mission is to ensure that no family feels alone in their grief.

A core part of our work is providing bereavement bags for siblings who have lost a brother or sister. These carefully created bags include:

Age-appropriate grief resources
Activities to help children process their emotions
Memory-making items to remember their loved one
Guidance and information for parents, including signposting to further support

We also offer specialised journals for teenagers coping with the loss of a sibling, as well as books on grief to support families at every stage of their journey.

In addition, we work closely with local services. Recently, we were proud to provide a cuddle cot blanket to a local funeral director, helping to bring comfort to families during the most difficult moments.

So far, Lila’s Light has supported 27 hospitals, helping to ensure that bereaved families receive compassionate, meaningful support when they need it most.

Everything we do is rooted in love, empathy, and the desire to keep Lila’s light shining—by supporting others through darkness.

Cuddle Cot Blanket

A CuddleCot (or CuddleBlanket) is a specialised bereavement care tool used to gently cool a deceased baby or child, allowing grieving families to spend precious time with them, often at home, in a hospital or funeral directors. This portable device, consisting of a cooling pad machine, helps prevent rapid deterioration, offering families comfort and essential time for goodbyes.

Our Worry dolls are lovingly handmade by incredible volunteers, each one created with care, compassion and kindness.

For a child navigating grief, worries can feel overwhelming and hard to put into words. These tiny dolls offer a gentle way to share those feelings. Children can whisper their worries to their doll, hold it close, and feel comfort in knowing they are not carrying those thoughts alone.

Though small, each worry doll carries a powerful message- that it’s okay to feel, to grieve and to share even the heaviest of worries.
